Excited to see a finished PCB. Fingers crossed for it to be almost finalized. Totally down for a upgrade.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this project yet, just spotted it on reddit.

They got this crazy high density SSD PCB.

Their cages are designed to be modular by sections and the PCB screws into the cage.
Might be fun to explore creating new rails for older storage pods that can utilize their cages.

My wallet is ready xD

Super Interested in this. What kind of data and power connection is on this board?

I’ve got 4 mini-sas connectors that wire up to the 15 drives, 4+4+4+3
And 2 X 4 pin minifit connectors, like what you’d see on a motherboard. These provide more than enough power. In fact one would probably be enough, but i wanted to be extra careful. These connectors are custom wired though, you will need to adapt a cable to fit into them, standard connectors wont be pinned right.

Take my money :money_with_wings:

That’s awesome!!! I sure hope testing goes well cause i would love to get these to eliminate 90% of wires running back to the motherboard. Your talking these 4 pin molex connections right?

Ya, that’s the one. you need just need pay attention to how your PSU is pinned out, not all of them are the same.

How would this work on the Storage Pod 2.0?
Could we use these backplanes and 3D Print the covers/cases?

Sounds good as long as we know which ones are 12v power and ground making our own cables could just be part of it.

any update on the boards? Do you have the information maybe we can have PCBway to make them??

Since it looks like this is dead… I reached out to 45Drivers and they will sell you backplanes. Here is what they sent me..

Ya, sorry for the bad news, seems there were production issues with boards. Something about the wrong impedance on the data lines. Looks like they wont be working anytime soon. Although it seems the 45 drives boards you have there are 95% identical to what I’m prototyping lmfao. How much are they selling them for?

Damn, that is a good price. I’m going to have to grab some. I love the idea of making my own boards but after this expensive failure i might just go with the easy solution lol. It will cost less too. Can you give me the email of who you reached out too?

Yeah, that’s a much better solution. While I am lucky to not had any failures so far with the manual direct wire I might have to get this in the budget.

Do you know the best way to reach out? I haven’t received any replies from their standard customer support lines.

Which Storinator is this PCB is this for? I was checking the one for the HL15 and the spacing was wrong for the older storage pods.

Also been a while since I’ve reported in. So far I have had zero issues with my direct wiring.

@amducious, would you be willing to share your STLs? I have the same cables and was thinking about how to adapt them for the S45 direct wire rails … and you did all the work already.
