HL15 Production Update

Hey @Lavavex No troubles. All staff on this forum are here to help as best as we can.

I just spoke with Vikram — he sent you an email last week regarding your estimated ship date. Once your unit has gone through production, it will be shipped to our distribution centre in the USA. You will then receive your tracking number. Feel free to email us if you have any further questions specifically related to your order: info@45homelab.com

Thanks very much for the reply! I just checked and found the email, I think i just missed the notification for it. Sorry bout that, total user error on my end… (this is why we ask people in IT the most stupid dumb questions like “have you tried turning it off and on again”, cause people forget to do the first step too often)

Thanks Ashley :heart_decoration: My takeaway is transit from NS down to the U.S. forwarder takes about a week, and then NYC over to WA is going to take about a week, so I’m still 11-12 days from having my first unit.

@SpringerSpaniel , might not take that long! Mine got from upstate NY to NC overnight. It was shipped as “standard overnight”.

Talk about “value” ? Wow, that’s a significant cost as part of the full build package. ( I think full build is even better value now) I like it because it keeps the package from getting beat up among all those transfers. Shipping 40+ Lbs overnight has got to be @ $100 give or take - which is the difference I priced between sourcing the parts myself and the full build.

agreed, once mine was received at the NY facility, mine was shipped overnight.

In fact, I had to call FedEx to alert them that it was not delivered. Once I stated why would something paid at an overnight shipping rate would not be delivered the next day. [ I live less than 10 miles from the FedEx facility. That facility does not allow customers to pickup packages.]

I am sure you will get your soon.

Apologies not necessary, @Lavavex. Honest oversight. It happens. Just glad you received your email, and are aware of the updates related specifically to your order.

@SpringerSpaniel Barring no external delays from FedEx, or from our freight forwarder (weather, uncontrollable transit issues, etc.), you will almost certainly receive your HL15 within a few business days of it shipping from Canada to the USA.

Mine was shipped on Monday to Europe. But FedEx have been slow as hell, the package is now in my country but it’s on hold / delayed for no apparent reason

@technotim has pushed a full review on the HL15 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGSaj5TYUB0, nice to see that it can saturate the full 20 Gb/s without breaking a sweat

@Fossil If you continue to experience further custom delays, please send us an email (info@45homelab.com). We’ll do our best to help in any way we can. Sorry to hear it seems to be hung up on you.

It got delivered today, I remotely opened the gate for the FedEx guy as I am abroad and never saw him exit the yard again.

I hope he survived :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi, I was wondering if you have changed the estimate of shipping 2-3 days after the unit enters production. I got my lovely email more than two weeks ago and haven’t heard anything about shipping. I’m not in any rush, but it would be good to get an update.

Thanks

Hey @etoel,

Thanks for bringing this up. Production has been full steam ahead these last few weeks. We are doing our very best to get orders out the door as soon as possible.

I will check your order status and get back to you by email.

Thank you,

It would be cool to see some behind-the-scenes video of the factory cranking out our machines. I loved the videos from the creator’s summit.

With delays going after Jan.3rd, 2024 for a shipping estimate. Is the production is pausing during christmas / new year? because it seemed a long delay after receiving my email with details. That might be explained if the factory is down during Dec.24th-Dec.30th, or being running as low staff only.

I would both assume and hope so. “The Assemble Line” is a bunch of humans after all, and these are all hand-made to order.

There’s been a lot of general unhappiness in the thread regarding long lead times, which is understandable given the “Ooh new shiny toy” appeal. But at the same time, they’re all humans with family at home.

I don’t recall seeing a hard set date of when the unit would hit your door step. There was MANY indications of the team stating they were swamped, and received way more interest than anticipated.

Yes, this is a “manufacturing company” at it’s heart, but they’re churning out standard vends of model x y and z. Whereas we all have quite a bit of variety to choose from along with extra parts. It’s a new chassis, a new wiring harness, etc. and is ALL hand made to order. Growing pains are expected, given that this IS a separate company internally than both 45Drives and Protocase.

They’re also working with 3D printing many of these adapters, off the shelf Corsair PSU’s (which I’m sure isn’t as easy as calling Supermicro for say 5,000 units), etc.

I get being bummed, but let’s take a step back and a look at it from the perspective that this is a group of humans all hand building these crazy toys for us to play with. If this was an enterprise offering and lead times were holding up production, that would be a totally different story.

I also said I wouldn’t mind to just receive it unassembled (like if it was the Case+backplane kit) with the other stuff in the OEM boxes if it cut the time, but for the warranty, I understand it would be hard since they don’t know how it would have been assembled.

Hey @pducharme @orix,

It appears from reading this thread that the community is behind us, which is the best thing we could ask for.

@orix. Your response is spot-on, and trust me when I say that the production staff are truly trying their hardest here. Thank you for understanding! Thank you everyone, for that matter.

@pducharme While we appreciate the suggestion and your enthusiasm to send out your HL15 without assembly, we would not be able to complete the quality and build testing for your unit.

On behalf of the entire 45HomeLab Team, I want to express my gratitude to all of you for your support and patience in this forum.
