It seems to diverge from the 46Drives open source philosophy. Besides your questions, I’d also wonder what the licensing is like for this?

Isn’t Unraid paid software? Will there be continuing subscriptions?

The Signature Series is designed to deliver a best-in-class Unraid experience right out of the box. It’s purpose-built, pre-configured, and optimized specifically for Unraid so customers can get up and running quickly without needing to fine-tune hardware compatibility or setup.
Meanwhile, the HL15, HL8, and HL4 continue to serve as open, flexible platforms for users who want full control over their environment. Those systems are ideal if you plan to run a wide range of operating systems or workloads. Not just Unraid.
That said, Unraid itself remains very flexible and open, so you’re not locked into a rigid ecosystem. The Signature Series simply makes it easier to get a polished, streamlined Unraid experience from day one, while the HL lineup gives you the freedom to build things exactly how you want.
