I have found a deal on the GeForce Rtx 3060 Graphics Card and I am thinking of buying it. I mostly game at 1080p and use Blender sometimes. Is this card still reliable today?
I think most people here are using GPUs for transcoding, video rendering, AI, etc. This isn’t really a forum about gaming. You can check out sources like Hardware Unboxed and Gamers Nexus for endless content comparing different GPUs for gaming. It’s really going to depend on what features you need the card to have in order to play the types of games you want to play at the settings you like to play with. It also depends on the “deal”–is the price a decent discount to it’s current competition based on how used it is and was it used for crypto mining?
Here is one video comparing the NVIDIA xx60 generations concluding that right now a better deal might be the AMD 9060 XT (16 GB):
One concern (depending on what games you play) seems to be many newer titles want more and more VRAM for either FPS or to make the world look decent, so 8 GB is starting to be seen as not enough for certain games. I think the reason to get a 3060 over a newer xx60 would be to specifically get the 12 GB version.
I’m not a gamer.
