I spent some time trying to get the scst cockpit iscsi module actually working and it frustrated me to the point that it was just easier to go back to using the existing targetcli installation from the command line … and then I was sitting there thinking … I wonder what Claude would do if I pointed it at this problem … and thirty minutes later I had a usable working cockpit plugin for targetcli that works on my rocky 9.8 based HL15 prebuilt system and also works on my separate ubuntu 26.04 installation that has cockpit installed from the ubuntu repositories.
and then I wondered, if this was so easy, what it would take to support minidlna/readymedia so that I could manage everything I use this box for from one interface … and a few minutes of research and creating a spec for a prompt later and I had this .
so now I can actually configure all of my fileio or disk based luns, my smb and nfs AND my DLNA media sharing all from a single interface
I figured I would share just in case anyone else might find it remotely interesting or useful.
