I’ve been toying with the idea of downsizing my garage rack (mainly because my wife is threatening bodily injury or harm if I don’t) and I have a Q30 that is sitting idle 99.9% of the time. And by idle I mean powered off usually.
Would anyone be interested in potentially purchasing it if the opportunity were available?
I can look up the specs and get the details of everything if anyone would like to know more information.
I figure I would add more information as it’s quite hypothetical and how can someone really gauge interest if there’s nothing to base it on. So here’s the specs for those that may have a potential interest:
Storinator Q30-Turbo
Motherboard - Supermicro X11DPL-i
2x CPU - Intel Xeon Silver 4216 2100MHz (4500MHz max)
8x RAM - 32 GB DDR4 (256 GB total)
2x HBA - SAS9305-16i
2x NIC - Intel XL710 dual 40G QSFP+
10x Disk - Seagate Exos X18 18TB SATA 7200 RPM 6GB/s
9x Disk - Seagate Ironwolf Pro 8TB SATA 7200 RPM 6GB/s (these were an after the fact addon when a second NAS was decommissioned and the drives were saved)
Currently running Ubuntu 20.04.6LTS with Houston Command Center. It was originally ordered with Windows and different HBA. They were swapped when it was converted to Linux.
Let me know if you may have any interest. I can probably dig up the original sales order if you’d like, but that may take a minute.
About where are you located (for shipping costs or local pickup)?
Do you still have the original box/crate, or the ability to pack this appropriately?
What backplane technology was in use at this point, do you know? Do the backplanes have SFF-8643 connectors like the modern HL15? Are they PCBs but have SFF-8087 connectors like your HBA? Or is there a bunch of individual cabling for the data and power to each SAS slot?
What PSU does this have? I believe they offer single ATX and dual PSU options
I’m in the central KY area. I don’t have the original box for shipping, but I will make sure it’s done correctly if pickup wouldn’t be an option.
I will have to look and see physically the answer to some of your questions. To put it in perspective, this is less than 4 years old, if that helps to answer any.
I’ll open it up and take some pictures as well. Just need a little time.
I’m not exactly sure how to answer what type of connectors they are. Does this help to answer your question?
It does have individual cables coming from the HBA to each slot. I cannot see how the power is run, as it’s more hidden due to the power supplies ending right at the edge of the divider and then the cabling disappearing underneath the backplane immediately.
Would you be looking to get rid of as-is? I’d be interested in knowing asking price, potentially without drives if you’d be willing to do a sale without them
I’m open to either with or without drives. I think it’s easier if the drives stay with it, but that’s not a dealbreaker by any means.
I’m also open to discussion on price. In the end I want to land where it doesn’t feel like either side got the pointy end of the stick so to speak. I’m pretty realistic in that it’s not brand new, but it’s also not 5 years old either, plus it hasn’t been run hard at all. And I also know I’m in the Homelab space so I’m not thinking anyone is going to whip out enterprise pricing numbers at all. On the other hand, I also don’t expect to donate it to a caring home either.
Does that make sense?
Edit:
Additionally, if there’s any other information needed, please ask, and I’ll do my best to get it if I can.
