Hopefully, they have an eye candy option for people who want it and a plain Jane version with solid black/white ect.

I like the middle one the most, then the bottom one.

Nice. How much. I want it soo bad.

holy crap, you guys went 140mm NICE. I know alot of us were hoping for that.

Also I think the moonlit woods style of the top 2 looks far better. than the basic claw mark of the bottom

I am curious if case dimensions have been decided yet? I am getting ready to squeeze the trigger on a rack and want to get the right depth. My gut tells me that 24” is going to be too shallow.

Hey @evermakers,

We are really close to pre sales for these units, and i can confirm that the size of this chassis is larger than the HL15, which means it will be more in length, breath, and height.

More updates will be posted in a few weeks.

Thank you,

That is great to hear @Vikram-45HomeLab Thanks so much for the update. I am really looking forward to this.

Don’t know if you’re looking at open or closed racks, but remember you need space at the back for cables (especially the AC plug) and airflow. Not sure what’s typical, but for 26” SuperMicro servers I set up an adjustable rack to 30”. Seems like you’re probably going to want something you can adjust around 28” in although as they say they haven’t actually committed to the depth. HL15+3” would be sufficient for EATX, but I am a bit surprised they can get a 15” GPU adding only 4” to the HL15 depth, I would have thought they’d need more like +5” for that.

Hey Homelabers,

I understand that you prefer a front design with fewer graphics to better match your aesthetic.

Please let me know your thoughts on this option.

This is better than all the other options. That font is just not for me though. Personally, a professional HL15B - 45HomeLab would be more my style.

Personally, I don’t really want a “BEAST”, nor do I want a plain box. That said, my stuff is in a closet, so I don’t care deeply about aesthetics, I can live with all the above if necessary. All I’ll add is I went with the white HL15, so I would have hoped there would be a white version of this available when I get the cash to purchase one.

Please consider creating a cleaner, black plane option that’s more professional-looking, featuring a subtle standard 45 drives logo in the corner without the HL15 beast text and font.

Some people just want a clean professional looking kit that matches other devices in their rack. Options like a Ubiquiti colour-matched faceplate would be easy after-market money for you for the HL15. So many people have been asking for it over the years.

For sure. I had pretty much settled on an adjustable open rack that can take me to 36 inches. This pretty much settles that decision. I am unlikely to ever need to go full size like that, but it gives me options anyhow.

Hi @jrhenderson

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, we really appreciate it. We understand that some users prefer a cleaner, more professional-looking option that blends seamlessly into their racks, and your suggestion makes a lot of sense.

At this time, we are unable to offer a Ubiquiti color-matched faceplate. However, I’m happy to let you know that the HL15 Beast will also have a custom front option, which we think will give customers more flexibility to achieve the aesthetic they’re looking for.

Your input is very valuable, and we’ll make sure it’s part of our ongoing conversations as we continue to expand the HL15 lineup.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Would it be possible to have an offering for just a raw front plate that is ready for paint that isn’t a $380 customizable option for those who would prefer to DIY? This might be a good alternative for those that want to maintain a specific look but don’t want to customize directly with 45HomeLab.

Same issue I had with the initial front plate offerings -

The text / font just makes it ‘feel’ somewhat gaudy or ‘gamer-y’

I still feel just calling it something like the ‘HL15-E’ is more along the lines of what I’d expect the homelab audience to be attracted to, vs ‘!!! BEAST !!!’.

Don’t get me wrong, I totally get where 45drives is trying to go with this (well, I think so anyway), making it the ‘bigger / faster / stronger HL15’, but I spend a ridiculous amount of time making my homelab look clean and professional (both on the software side, as well as HW), and I’d just rather have a blank faceplate than anything with a marketing-style name on the front.

Btw, just also wanted to make sure to say THANK YOU for soliciting feedback from us all - I appreciate the efforts everyone’s put in to this, and allowing us to take part in the process!

How much does this faceplate cost?
