Got a new hl15 pre burnt. Rocky is stalling out on “OK ] Started Virtualization daemon.”
Also failed to to start Dynamic system tuning daemon.
I did drop a rtx 2000 ada in there, wondering if i need to make any adjustments in the bios
I don’t have a vga adapter cord to try the onboard. But the rtx is letting me see the bios and rocky startup to this point every things looks fine except for the stall out.
Not a big deal its probably going to get wiped with something else anyway just wanted to get it up and running out the box first if its not giving me to much of a hassle.
I don’t have a full build, but until someone else responds with more helpful/direct advice the things I would try are;
Plug in (if unplugged), or unplug (if plugged in), the network cables and see what happens on reboot
Download a LiveUSB image from the Rocky Linux site and see if that will boot. I think someone said the Live images are a bit hard to find, but they should have one for Rocky 8 and Rocky 9.
Although you don’t have a VGA monitor, you should be able to boot and configure the system without one through the OOB management IPMI port. Take out the GPU and boot and connect to the IPMI. You may need to check your router for the IP assigned, and you may need to check these forums or the HL15 manual for the default IPMI password.
Although no confirmation this helped, you could try the suggestion here; https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/boot-up-freezes-at-[ok]-started-virtualization-daemon-4175539435-print/ “on boot, add “systemd.unit=emergency.target” (w/o quotes: the equivalent of “init=/bin/sh”) to the GRUB command line, then see if you can access the system and check your log files (start with ‘journalctl -xn’ and ‘less /var/log/messages’) and if necessary disable whatever service the Virtualization Daemon” means and check if the system then boots up properly. and see if you can get GRUB to boot in some sort of Linux equivalent safe mode.
Did you put any drives in the system? If you did, you could also try removing those.
Do you have any USB devices plugged in? I haven’t found the post yet but I think someone recently had issues with boot hanging due to a USB device presenting itself as a disk.
Appreciate the reply. Haven’t put anything in except for the gpu, could be the source of disruption. In the process of booting from an image, see how that goes.
