Mounting 5.25" optical drives?

Has anyone found or created a way to mount a 5.25" optical drive in the HL15? There doesn’t seem to be a good way to do it, but thought I’d ask as I’d like to mount some. (Obviously sacrificing some HDD spaces).

Any chance of this being an option on the new, larger case that was discussed?

Thank you.

Kevin

Do you rally need it internal? Is your HL15 in a rack? If it’s in a rack, why not get an external 1U enclosure for two 5.25" bays, something like this;

Although I am sure there are other choices, or possibly 3D print models. I’d probably place it under the HL15 and some relatively short USB cables (2-3 ft) should suffice even when sliding the HL15 in and out. Or, attach it as enclosure to move with the HL15 that detaches easily if you need to take the HL15 out of the rack.

You explicitly call out the 5.25" form factor, but you can get some pretty powerful (BD-R/W) slimline devices with tray or trayless front loading that you could also attach pretty easily under the HL15, or above depending on how much you take the lid off to tinker;

Nothing against 45Drives but Sliger has what you are looking for. I actually have a 3U chassis of theirs that I use to burn DVDs. Their larger cases also have 5.25" options.

Thanks for that pointer. Those look like a decent choice. I was really hoping for something where I could mount 3 optical drives vertically in the the space of 5 HDDs (sort of the opposite of the 5-in-3 adapters to put HDDs in three 5.25" optical drive spaces). It is the closest thing I’ve seen yet though, so thank you.
