The Time has Finally Arrived, the Home Client and Home Workstation are Now Available!
Earlier this year, we began presale on our two newest products, the Home Client and the Home Workstation. These are Linux-based PCs manufactured within North America to 45HomeLab’s premium quality standard.
These two new premium PCs are now being assembled and will be shipped out next week for all the repurchasers. Let’s dive into each model…
The Home Client is a small-form-factor personal computer. The Home Client is manufactured in North America from aerospace-grade aluminum. It has an extremely small footprint, making it perfect to stick on a TV stand or fit onto a desk. It is fanless, so it will remain quiet and unobtrusive while staying in a sleek, low profile.
For the launch of this product, the team decided to have some fun and put that aerospace-grade aluminum to the test with a scientifically devised “load test”. Check out the video here!
The Home workstation is designed to be quiet and compact while still offering a full PC experience. Its dual chamber design allows the Home Workstation a full-sized GPU slot. The home workstation packs full performance into a small chassis, with minimal fans to keep noise low.
Our team has been hard at work on 4 and 8 Bay storage servers. These are next on the roadmap with prototypes already well underway. Stay tuned for a sneak peak in the next few weeks.
Looking forward to the 4/8 bay servers, seems like these client boxes weren’t a big hit, so the return to servers and NASes hopefully will be back on track.
Received my Home Workstation today! However, be prepared for a couple of issues.
Current setup card points to non-existent guides. I’ve sent email in on this issue and it may be resolved soon.
The power supply fan is LOUD! It is a Silverstone FX500 and it appears there is a consensus that the stock fan is a screamer. The Home Workstation is advertised as such“ The Home workstation is designed to be quiet and compact while still offering a full PC experience. Its dual chamber design allows the Home Workstation a full-sized GPU slot. Other than CPU fan (and GPU fan if you choose), the home workstation does not require additional cooling, keeping noise low.” I may end up returning this if there is not a solution as the noise is very intrusive.
I appreciate your valuable feedback, and I have replied to your email regarding the same.
We had to pull those guides last minute due to an issue noted by a team member in review. They will be uploaded ASAP, once the updates are made. We intended to hide the section until the guides were ready, and apologize for the inconvenience or confusion.
Our R&D team is performing another test regarding the noise level, and we will get back to you once i hear back from our team.
I have to give huge kudos to 45HomeLab after I received a new unit, today, with a different power supply! In a word - QUIET!
After initially reporting, both in the forum and direct email, a power-supply fan noise issue with my original unit they quickly responded and told me their R&D team were looking at the problem.
They are now using a different power supply and it makes a huge difference. The only fan noise I hear, and it’s faint, is the CPU fan. There is no noise that I can discern coming from the power supply.
And, by the way, they shipped the new unit before I returned the original!
Big thank you to 45Drives and 45HomeLab for working with this early adopter and resolving the issue.
