HL8/B550I AORUS PRO AX PCIE to M2 NVMe card

I want to add additional NVMe drives to my build. B550I AORUS PRO AX support only PCIE bifurcation x8x4x4 so which addon card can I use? There are PCIE to four M2 addon cards that require x4x4x4x4. If I use such card will I be able to install three M2 drives? Someone have experience with this MB?

According to page 28 for Rev 1.0 of the motherboard, which I assume is the Rev you have, there may be CPUs you could use that would support x4x4x4x4, but I don’t know which CPUs those are; AMD may have not ended up actually making any for the AM4 socket.

You should be able to install a 4x NVMe riser and have 3 of the 4 NVMes available, but I have not actually tried it.

If you need four NVMe there is a PCIe card that has it’s own controller to handle the R/W over the PCIe rather than use bifurcation; the QNAP QM2-4P-384;

A bit more expensive, but gets around the bifurcation limits if you need to.

@DigitalGarden Thanks for the information. I have rev 1.3. Anyway, I don’t see a 4x4 option, so probably my CPU does not support it. QNAP QM2-4P-384 is a nice card but, unfortunately, too long mini-ITX MB
