LOL, the 1969/1970 date is almost certainly a bug in their website at the beginning. If you use the old/traditional unix timestamp format it’s a number of seconds since Jan 1 1970 (the unix epoch). So they probably had a bug in the code to set the order timestamp field in the database properly. If you convert between timezones that’s why some people are seeing 1969 vs 1970.
I’m not sure! I could see it going either way tbh. I’d have to imagine that while the chassis itself is the same in any of the 3 build options, the end user experience, packaging, and QC checks might look a little different for each option.
That is to say, I wouldn’t expect a bag of hardware and instructions for installing a MoBo in my full build. However, someone that ordered a bare chassis would. I’d imagine the option with the PSU would take in to consideration packaging all those cables and what not.
Are they providing tracking numbers when they are shipped? I wouldn’t want this to have to sit outside until I got home from work, I would rather take the day off work and stare out the window all day.
I haven’t received my ‘in production’ email yet, but I’m still crossing my fingers I get it before my birthday next Friday.
I’m in the US so there were two sets of tracking numbers. First one I reached out to check on production status, those were to the distribution center. The ones to me received automated emails… both from FedEx and 45 Homelab.
The way it worked for me was, I got a follow up from Vikram after that initial email. The follow up had a tracking and info stating that the tracking was for the shipment into the states for customs reasons. It took about 2 days to get there. The next morning I had another email from them with the new tracking number for shipment from district to my house, this showed up in one day, but I’m on the east coast.
I received the initial email from Vikram on 1 November, but I have not received anything next email as today is the 5th business after the initial update.
The email subject was “Your order has entered production”
When I was trying to email Vikram directly I am noticing that the your parent email server is having issues: host orders.protocase.com[142.177.145.42] refused to talk to me: 421 4.3.2 orders.protocase.com VPOP3 SMTP Server too busy - try later
This could be a form of spam guarding, but it is a little concerning given the lack of updates (from the initial email).
The email was successfully sent, but it took about 15 minutes.
The initial email being that it was in production or the one that was sent out to everyone? If it’s the latter, that email was partly an introduction from Vikram as he just joined the team. Once you get your “has entered production” email you’re in the home stretch.
Ah, so the Vikram announcement was not a mass email! I had heard the guys say something on Self-Hosted but it was during a nice 5pm highway merge so I must have misheard haha.
If the order numbers are sequential, and I placed mine on Oct 14th….i can see why they might be taking a bit to get out. I had a pre-order and mine isn’t in production yet.
Definitely a bonus for 45 Drives, super happy for them on the HL15 success! They obviously found a need that we’ve been looking for in the home lab market.
It would be nice in the future as they build this side of the business to have more visibility into the order and build status, but I assume it’s probably just the large backlog to get through before it normalizes.
