Hi everyone, after building in the HL15 case for several month I noticed this PCIe slot issue.
The PCIe card does not reach the bottom of the case where the slot has been pre-cut for the card to go in. (See pics below). The PCIe cover that came with the case was much longer than the standard PCIe cover. However, it itself barely able to reach the bottom of the case. I think there is some measurement error that was made where instead of using the button of the case for height, someone used the motherboard tray instead.
Originally some people had issues the other way, where the tab on the bracket was long enough but the bracket wouldn’t go into the slot, so it sat on the motherboard tray and was too tall to put the screw in. I think the “problem” here is just that the little cutout isn’t as deep as the cutouts in some other cases, since it is only the depth of the sheet metal; but I don’t think their design is out of spec, I think your bracket is just on the short side. You should be able to “fix” that with some hot glue, or a small piece of 2-sided tape or something if you aren’t being too rough plugging and unplugging the external cable to/from that connector if you are worried about the small gap. I’d probably use a bump dot/cabinet door bumper/rubber foot stuck to the motherboard tray to wedge the bottom against the back;
