HL15 2.0 unboxing feedback (shipped to Europe)

Hello, I received the HL15 2.0 today and it was shipped on July 24, arrived on 28 via FedEx in Switzerland.

Packaging seemed pretty solid with a couple of exceptions:

  • The fan of the CPU cooler was not attached to the heatsink. In fact, it was only attached to the CPU fan header of the motherboard. Perhaps some tape or a couple zip ties would do the trick. Along with some tape indicating “PLEASE OPEN TO COMPLETE SETUP” or something like that.
  • The motherboard screws were not properly fastened. 3 of them were loose. I checked other motherboard screws and found two more almost coming out. Only one was properly fastened which is somewhat a miracle that the whole thing survived.

I haven’t turned the server on yet since I’m waiting for some additional hardware but I’ll update the team directly if there’s an issue. I did report these details directly to the team.

Other bits and pieces

Would it be possible to add details/examples on where to install the 6Bay SSD Bracket Kit, Cantilever Fan Bracket (with fan) and the Fan Shroud in the HL15 so that I don’t have to dig through the forum? It would be a far better user experience if it came with a URL of a setup page or if I got that in the mail with the purchase. For now, it seems like I need to dig through the forum to find out.

Absolutely love the Stainless-Steel Bottle Opener!!!

So far, that’s my unboxing feedback. Solid packaging but some nits could be improved to ensure that there’s absolutely no damage.

Received my HL15 2.0 today after placing my order on July 4th and I also noticed the CPU cooler fan was just dangling loose inside the case when I opened it. Luckily it was super each to reattach to the cooler and doesnt appear to be any damage from what I can tell.

Interesting. Strangely enough after installing it again it seems to be pretty solidly in place.

Vikram gave me a good suggestion to remove the screws from the motherboard to determine if another screw was lodged underneath. Sure enough, there was a screw there.

Glad I didn’t plug it in earlier.

Same. When I got mine I had to hook it back up to the heatsink. Probably be good for them to wrap the fan in bubble wrap and just have people install it themselves if this seems to be an issue that keeps happening.
