HL-8 and full ECC support

Can someone from 45Drives please confirm my understanding here…?

I’ve read various sources here in forums and externally, and it appears that ECC error correction is not truly supported on the HL-8 with the offered CPUs.
My understanding is that the Gigabyte Aorus B550i Pro AX motherboard DOES support ECC with a supported AMD CPU. Various sources including on this forum say that the full-build HL-8 with Ryzen 5 5500GT or 5700G CPU do not support ECC, however.
It confuses me that 45Homelab would spec the full-build HL-8 device with an ECC capable motherboard and ECC RAM if error correction is not fully supported by the included CPU.
And if this can be corrected simply by offering a Ryzen Pro series CPU like the 5650G, why not do it? It does look like they are difficult to buy via consumer retail, but it seems like you should be able to source it. Obviously ECC is a desirable feature for your likely customer base.
I’m very seriously considering purchasing one as my off-site replication target and that Gigabyte motherboard is interesting if I can get both ECC and graphics.
Many thanks.

If ECC is a requirement and you don’t want to build your own, you could also look at the Pro8:

Hi @aerospeed,

I appreciate your valuable feedback.

As @DigitalGarden said, the Pro8 offers the Motherboard that supports ECC.

I would also like to let you know that we will soon offer pro electronics for the HL4 and HL8, so stay tuned !

Thank you,

Thanks Vikram. That’s interesting. Can you provide even a rough timeline for providing more detail? I’m looking to make a decision in the next couple weeks.

Just don’t do a full build. I can confirm that the Aorus Pro AX motherboard does indeed support ECC. I have it loaded with a Ryzen 5 Pro 5650 GE. I understand any of the non-pro Ryzen CPUs without integrated graphics will support ECC. If I had it to do over I would select a Ryzen 7 5700 and just not worry about graphics. I operate headless anyway.

HI @aerospeed,

I do not have a finalized date, but i estimate this to go live in a few weeks.

Hi @Vikram-45HomeLab, Any update? Otherwise I’m just gonna pull the trigger on a case-only.
