I had this IO Crest 16 Port SAScard
& it started to go bad on me so I bought & switched to Broadcom MegaRAID 9460-16i
I just put it in my case & switched out the sas to sata cable to sas cables
I connected it to my backplane & ran it to the card
My HDD’s spin & get power but I’m not finding them inside TrueNAS
Just to be clear, those links talk a lot about both of those cards being a hardware RAID card and doing its own onboard RAID. You had each set up in some sort of JBOD/IT mode just passing through the individual drives correct?
I have it just in my HL15
That’s my bad here’s the card I used to use
OK, that makes a bit more sense. But still the replacement card you link is a hardware RAID card. This thread, although old, sounds a bit like your issue;
If it were me, I’d get a 9300-16i, 9305-16i or 9400-16i instead of the 9460-16i. You can google something like “9460-16i IT mode firmware” and do some digging, but unfortunately with a quick search, I don’t think that card easily supports software RAID like TrueNAS, just hardware RAID.
Fixed:
I needed to switch the card from RAID mode to JBOD mode in my BIOS under advanced.
