45Drives Setup Wizard -- is there a timeline?

I read the blog article. I watched the video. Setup WIzard looks promising to this retiree way behind on dev-ops developments. The blog and the vlog read as if the Setup WIzard were ready for service. I went off to GitHub to pick up a copy only to discover that it was not in the public repositories.

Until the end of time: “Are we there yet?”

I know these things take time and a lot of design and testing. I’m guessing Ansible is involved. And a complete rethinking of how a assembled parts becomes a 45Drives system. Please, a Forum announcement when it is ready.

Hi @DismalWizard,

I apologize for not letting the community know that the Setup Wizard is live and available for download from our webstore - 45HomeLab .

If you have any questions please reach out to me at info@45homelab.com.

Matthew reported that the Windows version of the 45Drives Setup Wizard is available from the Getting Started section of the HomeLab store. I hope it will be added to the Knowledge Base directly.

I’m still waiting for a Linux or MacOS version as I keep a Windows-Free household.

The web store just links to their github. There appears to be versions for Linux and Mac.

I think this is mainly for new clean installs though, not for making changes to a system you already have set up with data. What system do you have, an HL4? Are you having issues with the way you set it up?

Hey @DismalWizard @DigitalGarden

The Setup Wizard is available here https://github.com/45Drives/houston-client-manager/releases with support for Linux (Rhel/Deb/Arch), Mac, and Windows. It is currently in Phase 1 release, and is more so geared towards setting up a brand new unit (configuring Setup and using Backup/Restore functionality) or re-initializing and wiping an existing unit (some of the config files that Backup/Restore look for are generated via the Setup process at this time).

We plan on adding a more robust feature set into the Phase 2 release including support for existing users that want client backups but don’t want to fully ‘set-up’ their server again, as well as the much-desired Offsite and Cloud Backup options, and Rollback/Restore from Snapshots. We appreciate the community’s patience with this ongoing development.
